The AMI Capstone is a production workshop intended for students graduating with an AMI certificate. In this course, students have the opportunity to conceive and bring to completion an independent creative project: a film, video, screenplay, or research paper. For students hoping to graduate with AMI Distinction, the Capstone is also a starting point for more ambitious projects that can be completed during the Spring term.
In addition to providing one-on-one guidance and group critique of your own creative work, the Capstone will be a discussion seminar. Through selected readings and film screenings, we will consider the relationship between movies and the worlds they depict. By understanding how a film renders reality, we can learn a lot about what movies are, how they work, and why we care about them.
Finally, the Capstone is a creative clubhouse: a not-so-secret society where, each week, you can find technical, creative, and moral support as you bring your project to completion.
