Interested in the environment, humanitarianism, film – and some combination thereof? Then don’t miss this opportunity to work with the BorderWork(s) Lab’s UNEP Film Project, which is being directed by Prof. Erika Weinthal with help from TA Alix Blair.

Here’s the call for participation:

We have the unique opportunity to house the only copies of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP)’s post-conflict environmental assessment footage at Duke. UNEP has shared them with Duke for the sake of digitizing the material, preserving a copy at Duke, and logging the film footage, with the goal of using the footage for future projects. We need YOUR help logging the film (ie. writing down what is happening and where, ect…).
No one has watched the footage before, it has been stored in UNEP’s office. Nigeria! Sierra Leone! Gaza! Afghanistan! And more! You will be responsible for one country or part of a country at a time– watching the footage and following a system for writing down what you see.
Initial project launches after spring break and we’ll hold a training period, for how to access the film and the way to write down what you see. We’d expect you to work reviewing the film each week for a few hours. We are looking for responsible and detailed-oriented students with an interest in international environmental issues.
Please email Alix back (atb16@duke.edu) and let me know your interest. And, of course, if you have any questions, email me too.
