Co-Directed by former Haitian Ambassador and former Duke Mellon Visiting Professor Jean Casimir and Deborah Jenson, with Laurent Dubois. This seminar, conducted by video-conferencing, brought Haitian scholars together with Duke and other US-based colleagues, in a series of intensive discussions of archival texts of the Haitian Revolution and their significance for public humanities culture in Haiti today. The project’s key Haitian partners are the Haitian Society of History and Geography; the Center for Historical and Sociological Research (CHRESO) of the College of Social Sciences, and the Department of History at the Institut Supérieur of Studies and Research in Social Sciences (ISERS), formerly the Institute of African Studies and Research (IERA) of the Université d’État d’Haïti.
