Human rights is more than a practice; it is also an emerging field of study with a growing literature, archives and critical debate. At Duke, we see human rights through both optics: a way of being active in the world and a view and methodology that should be actively and critically examined. Currently, the Duke Human Rights Center at the Franklin Humanities Institute assists students interested in writing human rights-related theses and in designing Program II majors related to human rights.
