Anna Kipervaser is a Ukrainian-born multimedia artist pursuing her MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts at Duke University. She holds a BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Her work spans multiple disciplines including experimental and documentary moving image works in both 16mm film and HD video. Anna is also a painter, printmaker, curator of exhibitions and programmer of microcinema screenings showing works from international filmmakers. In 2008, she founded On Look Films with Rodion Galperin. CAIRO IN ONE BREATHCairo is Anna’s first feature film which she directed and produced, it is currently being color corrected, sound mixed, and submitted to film festivals while the team seeks distribution. The project is fiscally sponsored by The Hartley Film Foundation, with additional support from National Geographic’s All Roads Film Project and the Lucius and Eva Eastman Fund. Anna has also been the recipient of numerous grant awards and residencies including support from the George Sugarman Foundation, Darmasiswa Scholarship, New York Studio Program, the Wilder Traveling Scholarship, the Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship, and was nominated for a Kodak Cinematography Award. Through her art practice, Anna works to help bridge the cultural gap between the Middle East and the West, increasing awareness and dispelling misconceptions.
