Mattea V. Sanders, originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, received a B.A. in History from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an M.A. in American History with a concentration in Public History from The American University in Washington, D.C. With a background in Public History, she has worked and conducted projects for the National Park Service, the National Archives and Records Administration, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Currently, Mattea sits on the Membership Committee for the National Council on Public History and is on the Executive Council for the Society for the History of the Federal Government. Her research interests are in American Indian History, Environmental History, Labor History, and Federal Government History.
