The Amazon lab reading group meets twice a month to discuss readings from a variety of fields and disciplines that deal with the Amazon and related topics. The group is led by graduate students but is open to everyone. Please rsvp to Gustavo Furtado, gpf@duke.edu to receive the pdfs.

This week’s chosen readings are two chapters from Charles Mann’s 1491: “Amazonia” and “The Artificial Wilderness. We will also screen Journey to a Land Otherwise Known (2012, 21 min) by Colombian visual artist and filmmaker Laura Huertas Millán.
