On October 16, 2014, the Audiovisualities Lab gathered graduate and undergraduate students for the first of five sound studies workshops, Sonic Perspectives. This workshop series aims to bring together students and scholars interested in sound to the emerging field of sound studies to discuss the possibilities and challenges presented by sound-based work. With brief presentations by Jonna McKone (Duke, MFA/EDA), Yair Rubinstein (Duke, Literature), Anna Kipervaser (Duke, MFA/EDA) and Jay Hammond (Duke, Cultural Anthropology), this first workshop discussed key concepts and approaches to grappling with sonic experience.
