A research cluster in the Spring 2013 At Home/On the Wall, “Platforms and Passageways” asks how better information sharing can improve post-conflict reconstruction in an area of Colombia devastated by political violence. Working with course TA Erin Parish, students will create a pilot methodology and interactive mapping tool for gathering, coordinating, and displaying information in post-conflict and post-disaster contexts. These tools aim to provide a means of communicating and connecting stakeholder needs and resources in a manner all involved actors can understand and access. In order to create functional tools that meet practitioner needs, in Summer 2013, these will be field-tested in San Carlos, Colombia with internally displaced populations in the process of returning to their homes as well as with Colombian municipal and national agencies facilitating re-establishment and return.
