Gabriela Salgado (M.A., Royal College of Art) is an independent curator and art consultant, who is collaborating on the exhibition in preparation “Contesting Freedom: Pop Art in the Americas, 1965-75.” Exhibitions Salgado has curated include: León Ferrari: The Architecture of Madness (2001), Arena México (2004), and León Ferrari: A Relentless Critique of Power (2006) at the University Gallery, Colchester; La Octava Región (2006) at the Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires; and Humanos Dereitos (2008) at Galeria E. F., São Paulo. She also curated PRAXIS: Art in Times of Uncertainty, the Second Biennale of Thessaloniki in 2009 and large-scale public events such as Tucumán Chicano in Tucumán in 2005, The Fight in 2007, and Cildo Meireles: Malhas da Liberdade/Meshes of Freedom in 2008 at Tate Modern. Salgado also curated PRAXIS: Art in Times of Uncertainty, the Second Biennale of Thessaloniki in 2009 and La Otra Bienal, Bogotá, Colombia, 2013, and Visual Poetry, Maddox Arts, London, 2013, Once Upon a Time, Lisbon, 2012-13 and Mogaje Guiju – Abel Rodríguez: El nombrador de plantas, Prince Claus Fund, Amsterdam, 2014-2015
She is currently working in a programme of artistic exchanges between African and Latin American countries.
