Colonial/Decolonial Aesthetics

The course is an introduction to colonial aesthetics, fashions, poetics, as well as to the aesthetics of the resistance to colonialism and slavery, and will have a studio art component involving, among other possible projects, collaborative illustrations of an 18th century Creole opera that dramatizes social relationships across racial, class, and religious groups.
