The Standard of Care project addresses the ethical issues related to gathering sensitive data, such as data on post-traumatic stress, in vulnerable populations. Co-led by Deborah Jenson with Dr. Karen O’Donnell and Kathy Walmer, the project was begun through field work in Leogane, Haiti, with three Haiti Lab undergrads in May of 2012. Duke faculty and students interviewed community members and healthcare stakeholders in Haiti to understand local conceptions of health care resources, and to strategize on realistic referral processes in the context of health research.
