The HHL collaborated with JonathanHill-Rorie, Duke alum (T’15) and masters student at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, to create two pilot surveys related to student wellness and mental health at Duke. One of the surveys is in circulation until the end of January, and is aimed at Duke students and recent undergraduates. The other survey is aimed at Duke professors, to learn how they handle students in distress, and has yet to become public.
Once the results from the surveys are in, Jonathan hopes to get data showing that more robust surveys on student mental health and emotional wellness are necessary. His wish is to receive more institutional backing in qualitative surveys on student wellness. Once the faculty survey has been rolled out, he hopes the results can help change some faculty practices and what they see as important to student wellness.
