Dr. John Vaughn is Director of Student Health Services, Associate Professor of Community & Family Medicine and Pediatrics, and Faculty Associate, Trent Center for Bioethics Humanities & History of Medicine at Duke University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts (English) and Doctor of Medicine degrees from The Ohio State University and is currently Executive Editor of the Journal of American College Health. His main academic interest lies in the field of Narrative Medicine, specifically how the development of narrative competence informs and enhances medical education and provider-patient communication. He has developed Narrative Medicine curricula at both the graduate medical and undergraduate levels and has collaborated widely with scholars in narrative theory and the medical humanities.
