Arif Erbil received his B.A. in Political Science and History and an M.A. in History from Boğaziçi University, located in Istanbul. Additionally, he holds an A.M. in Religious Studies from Duke University in 2023. Currently, he is a PhD student in the History Department at Brown University and is interested in the intersection of political and legal thought in the early modern Ottoman Empire. At the Lab, he investigated a manuscript which was written in Ottoman Turkish. The manuscript is titled “Islamic devotional book” with catalogue number “Arabic MS 45” in the collection of Harry L. and Mary K. Dalton.
