Filippo Screpanti

My name is Filippo Screpanti and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Romance Department at Duke University building on my cross-cultural background in French and Italian to study early modernity. I grew up in Rome and Paris and I decided to focus my studies on Romance languages and literatures because of my fluency in the languages and extensive knowledge of both cultures. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Rome, and a Master of Arts in French from Colorado University. I am interested in French and Italian early modern literature and culture, with an emphasis on the relationship between literature, politics and philosophy. I am also interested in Mediterranean studies. After completing my studies at Duke, I would like to continue working in higher education.
