Robert Reece

Robert is a sociology PhD student at Duke University where he serves as a Race Workshop coordinator and takes an intersectional, critical race approach to his research on the American South, black popular culture, colorism, digital technologies, gender/feminism, and sex/sexuality. His flagship projects now include an investigation of the legacy of slavery in the American South, an experiment to examine the effects of race and gender on one’s Twitter experience, and a book project exploring the careers of black women web cam models. He is from Leland, MS in the heart of the Mississippi Delta and obtained BA and MA degrees in sociology from The University of Mississippi. He is 1/3 of the blogging collective Still Furious and Brave and creator of the Southern men’s fashion blog Magnolia Fresh.
