Ryan O’Rourke

Ryan O’Rourke is currently pursuing his PhD in French at Duke University, where he has been since 2010. Prior to arriving at Duke, he graduate with Honors in Honors from the University of Kentucky with BAs in both French and Linguistics in 2008, and with his MA in French in 2010. While at Duke, he is also working on certificates in Women’s Studies and Philosophy, Arts and Literature, is one of the inaugural PhD Lab Scholars in the PhD Lab launched this year by the Franklin Humanities Institute, serves as one of only two graduate students on the University Judicial Board, and is sitting president of DukeOUT, Duke’s graduate and professional LGBT organization. His research and teaching interests include: contemporary French and Francophone Literature, queer theory, literary production and consumption and their effects on the writer and reader, the pedagogical purchase of literature, technology in the Humanities and in the classroom, and language pedagogy outside the classroom.
