Come celebrate with us on Arts Everywhere Day as we unveil the new mural on the Morrison Residence Hall basketball court! Created in collaboration by Nina Chanel Abney (Duke/UNC Nannerl O. Keohane Distinguished Visiting Professor) and the students from ARTS 290, the mural draws attention to the powerful intersection of the arts and athletics.

This event is free and open to the public.

Over the course of spring semester, Nina has been talking with UNC students to hear about what matters to them: their concerns, ideas, and interests. Together they culled popular culture websites and Wilson Library’s digital archives for images and stories of UNC life, past and present. All of these efforts directly informed Nina’s digital rendering of the mural: a bold, abstract remix, specifically devised as a practical space for sport and a riveting work of public art.
