This slide talk, screening and conversation with artist Emiliano Gironella Parra will address his broad artistic practice, from drawing, painting, and printmaking, to his challenging installations on drug culture, and socially engaged work with the families of fallen and wounded police in Mexico. Entitled ‘Cicatrizarte’, the documentary on this most recent body of work earned him the Malvinas Prize at the Trieste Film Festival in Italy. Gironella Parra is also the founder of Manos Manchadas de Pintura, an organization that uses art with people of all ages to heal and address trauma.
