Join us for a lecture and conversation with Guggenheim curator Sara Raza on contemporary art from the Middle East and its connections with the changing landscape of globalized museums around the world. You can also hear Raza at a shorter presentation for a Feb 1, 5pm panel at the Nasher Museum as part of our two-day inTransit conference, including Friday workshops.

Sara Raza is the Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum based in New York where she recently organized the exhibition But a Storm Is Blowing from Paradise: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa. Formerly, she was the Curator of Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Head of Education and Public Programs at YARAT Contemporary Art Space, Baku, Azerbaijan, and Curator of Public Programs at Tate Modern, London. Raza is the longstanding West and Central Asia editor of ArtAsiaPacific magazine and is currently editing a book on her research entitled Punk Orientalism.  Sara earned a BA (hons) in English Literature and History of Art and an MA in Art History and Theory, both from Goldsmiths College, University of London and also pursued studies towards her Ph.D. at the Royal College of Art. She is the recipient of the 2016 ArtTable New Leadership Award for Women in Art.
