Amsalu Tefera holds a Ph.D. (2011) in Philology from Addis Ababa University (AAU); and another Ph.D. (2015) in Linguistics from the University of Florence-Italy. He was an Assistant Professor of Philology at Addis Ababa University (2007-2019). He was chairperson of the Department of Linguistics and Philology at the same university (2014-2015). Dr. Tefera was a research fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and did his postdoc research at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich-Germany (2015-2018). He has published a couple of academic monographs including “The Ethiopian Homily on the Ark of the Covenant” (Brill 2015) and several journal articles. “ነቅዐ መጻሕፍት” [‘Spring of Books’] is his well-cited book on Ethiopian manuscripts (Addis Ababa 2019). He co-edited the volume titled “Representations of Angelic Beings in Early Jewish and in Christian Traditions” (Mohr Siebeck 2021). He did extensive research collaborations with different institutions in Ethiopia, Europe, and the USA in relation to Ethiopic manuscripts and the Ge‘ez language. Based in Florida-USA, currently, Dr. Tefera is an independent researcher on Ge‘ez literature and manuscripts, linguistics, Ethiopian history, culture, and religion. |
