Polish feminist activism in recent years, most notably the protests against the ban on abortion, has employed the strike as a tactic, in line with contemporary feminist struggles elsewhere.
Julia Kubisa and Katarzyna Rakawska will join us via video-conference for a dialogue about contemporary feminist movements in Poland. In addition to the specifics of the movements themselves, we will discuss the transversal connections with other movements and the international links with feminist movements in other countries.
We will have two linked events on the Polish women’s strike and feminist movements:
1) A ‘mapping’ session on Monday, Sept. 2 – 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
2) A ‘dialogue’ with Polish activists on Wednesday, Sept. 4 – 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Location: Social Movements Lab, Franklin Humanities Center, Smith Warehouse, Bay 5, Duke University, 114 S. Buchanan Blvd., Durham, NC
