Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) Legacy Project — Dialogue with Courtland Cox, Wesley Hogan, and Naomi Nelson

December 3, 2018 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

A dialogue with Courtland Cox, Naomi Nelson, and Wesley Hogan on the SNCC Legacy Project and the practices of activists’ documentation of movements. The SNCC Legacy Project is dedicated to telling the history of the movement from the perspective of the movement veterans and preserving its lessons for future generations.  The Project grapples with and proposes creative solutions to some questions that are central to the work of the Lab: such as, how to preserve the forms of knowledge production that have been achieved among activists in a movement context; how to conduct co-research on the history of a social movement; and how to bring the lessons of movements of the past to young activists today. In preparation for the dialogue, please read the following linked essay written by members of the Legacy Project: “Building and Transferring Movement Informational Wealth: The SNCC Digital Gateway” For more on the SNCC Legacy Project, see: http://www.sncclegacyproject.org/ Lunch will be provided for participants.
